Living in a retirement village might be the best place to retire for many baby boomers. In the United States these places are usually called active adult communities or 55+ communities. Overseas and particularly in the British Commonwealth they tend to be called retirement villages. In those countries they tend to have more facilities geared to an older audience than they do in the U.S. The retirement village movement is growing in many countries - these virtual communities help people retire in place by providing a network of cooperative services.

The Villages - Central Florida The Villages® is comprised of dozens of different communities within 12 Community Development Districts (CDDs). The complex spans 3 counties in Florida and had 157,000 residents as of 2016. Its town centers have daily events with a changing schedule of entertainment options.
